Tour Germany (Peter)

Day 1-3 Munich ( München) andthe setting

On your first day you must see the very nice Bavaria capital city - Munich.

Munich is a city, which has a good combination of modern and traditional sights. For example, you can see the beautiful Capital Hall in the traditional style and the opposite are the modern Alianz-Arena and the BMW-world. That's only three of a lot of nice Munich buildings. Also Munich has very nice parks (Englischer Garten), pubs (the famous Bavarian beerhalls) and famous clubs and a lot of very good German or Bavarian restaurants.

The best time in Munich is between September and October, because at this time every year is the famous Munich Oktoberfest. You must be there!

But not only the city is nice! Not far from Munich are a lot of nice lakes (Stanberger See and much more) and the popular Alps.

Day4-5 Lake Constance (Bodensee)

The Bodensee is the biggest lake in Europe and it touches Switzerland, Austria, and Germany. But the longest coast line borders Germany. At the Bodensee are some great cities.  Three of them are Konstanz, Lindau and Friedrichshafen. All are lovely!

Day 6-7 Rhine-Necker area and the region Pfalz

This area has very nice places and is popular for the very famous wine area of Pfalz. I live in this area. So when you want, you can visit me;-). In the Pfalz are the lovely and famous "Deutsche Weinstrasse". It's a long street via the big area and at this street are some wonderful small towns with beautiful wines.

At the other side of the biggest river in Europe "Rhine" is the Rhine-Necker area with nice cities to visit. I think the best in this area is Heidelberg. This city is very popular for the famous and oldest university in Germany and the one of the most famous ruins in Germany, the Castleruine. This Castle is very beautiful and from there you can see a lovely view of the city with her small old town.

Day 8-9 Financialcentrum Frankfurt

Frankfurt is the financal centre of Germany. The city has the biggerst and highest skyline in Europe. The skyscrapers look very nice. Another impressive thing is the Frankfurter Airport. It is one of the biggest in the world.

A nice place in the city is the old town and the banking district with high skyscrapers and beautiful Frankfurter Oper.

Day 10-11 Cologne( Köln)

Cologne has a very old history and there are many cultural and architectural things to see. Both Frankfurt and Cologne are on the Rhine.  The most famoust landmark of Cologne is the lovely "Kölner Dom". It is the largest cathedral of Europe. The best time to visit this great city is at the famous carnival time. It's very crazy and funny at this time!

Day 12-13 Düsseldorf

Not far away from Cologne is the capital of the federal state "Nordrhein-Westfalen", Düsseldorf.
Another name for Düsseldorf is, "trade fair city", because the city has very big businesses and it  is the city with the highest turnover in Germany.

The city is beautiful and I think the best place for shopping in Germany. After your shopping tour you can relax at the nice rhinemall.

Day 14-16 Hamburg

Hamburg is the second biggest city in Germany and has the third biggest port in Europe, the eight biggest port in the world and the biggest industry and marketing location in Germany.

Other than that mentioned lovely Hamburger port, you must see the very beautiful midtown, the nice Binnenalster and of course the very famous St.Pauli nightlife.

Day 17 -19 North Sea coast

Our beautiful North Sea coast is dreamy and very romantic, but often windy. But in the summer you can have a nice holiday at the seaside. The German North-coast has a lot of nice small islands. The biggest of them is the island Sylt. They are very lovely!

Day 20-22 Island Rügen

Rügen is Germany's biggest island. The island is in the East Sea coast and very charming. Typical and beautiful are the many tree-lined streets. At Rügen you have very nice beaches and lovely architecte.

Day 23-26 Germanys capital Berlin

Berlin is the biggest city in Germany with the most history!   In Berlin you have a lot of different things. Of course a lot of tradition can be seen here  .But thats not all from Berlin, the capital has a lot of modern things.

Berlin is deemed to be a world centre of culture, politics, media and science. Also popular is the popular architectural style of Berlin. So, the city has interesting new buildings like The Sony Center at the Podsdamerplatz, the Holocoust-Mahnmahl, the new big train station or the Kanzleramt) and old buildings like  the Brandenburger Tor or the Berliner Dom)

But more interesting are the many old buildings which after the war were restorted like the Reichstag. The highest building is the Berlinerfernsehturm. It is 368m high.  Another thing that you must see are the parts from the Berlinermauer.

So, Berlin is a great city for everyone, because you can find anything there!  And one another tip, you must eat at the famous "Berliner Currywurst"!

Day 27-30 Leipzig and Dresden

These two cities also have important histories too. Because both are in the new state Sachsen. Sachsen belonged to the DDR.  Both citys are the biggest in this state and the flagship from the region.

The capital Leipzig is the bigger one. Leipzig has many universitys with a lot of studends. The most famous are the universities for business and music.

Very lovely are the old nice buildings in this city, for example the towns landmark "Völkerschlachtdenkmal" or the new townhall.

Not far away from Leipzig is Dresden. The city is beautiful and has beautiful old buildings too. The most famous is the famous catedral and the famous Sempteroper. A beautiful place in this city is the big Elb-mall. You must see it!

Enjoy your Tour!;-)

  2. Hi Peter

I have corrected the mistakes - there were not a lot. Your writing was very good.

The most common mistakes were as follows:

Using "have" when you should use "has":

For example: The city has (not have) This area has (not have) The coast has (not have)

Also, remember to start proper nouns with a capital letter. For example: Europe, German, Munich, Bavarian

Always say "It is the capital of.." (not "from")

For example is abbreviated to e.g. (not f.e.)

    Well done again!

    cheers / Graeme
